Calling All Diocesan Quilters - you are needed for a very special project! During the weekend of September 11-13, 2009, Camp Weed/Cerveny Conference center will host the first Wounded Warrior Retreat. This new Diocesan ministry is a partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), headquartered in Jacksonville. The WWP mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors by raising awareness and enlisting the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, by helping them assist each other, and by providing unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. Approximately 20 wounded warriors from across the nation are coming to receive education, training, and secondary rehabilitative care focusing on mind, body and spirit.
We would like to have some patriotic quilts made to distribute to each Wounded Warrior at the retreat. You will be hearing much more about this in the upcoming months, but time is tight and we need your help-not to mention the fact that we need to be busy sewing! If any of you would be interested in making a quilt approximately 50" x 60" (give or take a few inches), please contact either Janice Martin in Jacksonville at (904) 384-1635, or Jan Harbeson at (904) 384-9499.
